To evaluate the application of the food safety seminar conducted for the recipients of the Streetfood Vending Program in San Nicolas, Batangas, a post-training sampling of the foods they prepare and vend was conducted, February 02.

The beneficiaries of the program were Karla-Klarissa’s Foodtrips owned by Ms. Carol Mendoza, Maliputo Restaurant owned by Mr. Frederick Enriquez, Villa’s Streetfood owned by Mr. Gerald Villa, Athena’s Fried Chicken owned by Ms. Beverlyn C. Umandap, and Gloria’s Barbeque owned by Ms. Gloria Suarez.

Ms. Shaine Fonacier, Science Research Analyst at DOST-CALABARZON’s Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL), facilitated the food sampling. Food samples collected were immediately transported to RSTL. Test results are expected to be released after six days.

The pre-training sampling of the foods from the beneficiaries were conducted on July 21, 2021. The actual training on food safety for the beneficiaries was conducted on October 11, 2021 at San Nicolas Central School, San Nicolas, Batangas.

This activity is a component of the project entitled “Upgrading of Street Food Vending in San Nicolas, Batangas” under the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program for Disaster-Stricken Areas in Batangas Province.
