The Department of Science and Technology Region IV-A (DOST IV-A) will once again conduct the 2015 Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits (RICE) on October 27-29, 2015 with the theme, ‘CALABARZON: A Smart Region Innovating and Inventing for Global Competitiveness.’ RICE will be held as part of the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration which concurs to the theme ‘Philippines: A Science Nation Innovating for Global Competitiveness.’ The contest aims to enhance the creative and inventive efforts in the regions by providing a venue for showcasing products of creativity, inventiveness and ingenuity of Filipino inventors and researchers.

All inventors, student or professional creative researchers (from both public and private sectors) are invited to join this regional contest which will serve as the qualifying round for the 2016 National Invention Contests and Exhibits (NICE). It has six categories which include (1) Outstanding Invention (Tuklas Award), (2) Outstanding Utility Model, (3) Outstanding Industrial Design, (4) Outstanding Creative Research (Likha Award), (5) Outstanding Student Creative Research (Sibol Award) for High School students, and (6) Outstanding Student Creative Research (Sibol Award) for College students. The forms may be submitted duly accomplished and notarized, to DOST IV-A’s Provincial S&T Center (PSTC) Office not later than August 7, 2015 or to DOST IV-A office not later than August 14, 2015. The preliminary screening is scheduled on the fourth week of August 2015 at DOST IV-A office.
