Cassava products is an essential source of income for the farmers of the Organization of ARB Farmers of Inalsan, Inc. (OARBFII).

Last 28-29 July 2022, the Department of Science and Technology Rizal (DOST-Rizal), together with the provincial office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), conducted a two-day training on cassava flour processing for the OARBFII at the Shared Service Facility of the Sampaloc Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SARBMPC) in Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.

Cavite-based small enterprises Absmush Mushroom and Project Beans Trading received Halal Certification from the Malaysian Halal Consultation and Training Agency – International Halal Integrity Alliance (MHCTA-IHIA) for Halal Standards. Executive Director Prof. Dr. Rafek Saleh of the MHCTA-IHIA and Director/Consultant Dr. Jane Tranquilan of the MHCT-Philippines personally awarded the certificates to Ms. Mharlyn Rubrico, owner of Absmush, and Mr. Alvin Causing, owner of Project Beans.

The Department of Science and Technology – CALABARZON (DOST-CALABARZON) through Assistant Regional Director Engr. Francisco R. Barquilla III, Halal Project Coordinator Ms. Agnes Morales, and DOST-Cavite Provincial S&T Director Ms. Gilda S. De Jesus facilitated the awarding ceremony.

Last June 25-26, Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit of DOST-CALABARZON, Dr. Alexander R. Madrigal, former DOST-CALABARZON Regional Director, Ms. Vermelyn Evangelista, Technical Supervisor of Philippine Coconut Research and Development Foundation Inc. (PCRDF), and Mr. Crispin Muyrong, President of Sunlight Foods Inc., a private company in the business of fruit processing advocating on the sustainability of their partner farms, visited the Embryo Cultured Makapuno Farms in Quezon to monitor the growth of trees, inspect the farm site, and discuss the evaluation and potential business opportunities with Sunlight Foods Inc. The monitoring was organized by Mr. Aaron Joniel Carandang, DOST-CALABARZON Project Assistant III, project focal person, in cooperation with Ms. Mylene Culing, OIC-Municipal Agriculture Officer, Mr. Cleverick Pajarillo, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Officer with the participation of Ms. Victoria Gonzalez, DTI-Negosyo Center Alabat Officer.

Last July 5, 2022, DOST-CALABARZON Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL): Halal Verification Laboratory (HVL) reaped 95% on the overall audit score deeming the organization entitled of the Halal Accreditation Certificate from the International Halal Integrity Alliance (IHIA) and the "Award of Excellence" from the Malaysian Halal Consultancy and Training Agency (MHCT) Agency, making it the very first in the DOST System. The careful inspection and evaluation covered two days and were rendered by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rafek Saleh, IHIA Executive Director and MHCT Principal Halal Consultant, with Dr. Jane Tranquilan, Director and Assistant Halal Consultant.

Last 24 June 2022, SM Center Angono, featured the fresh produce of the Angono New Normal Farmers Association (ANNFA), under the SM Foundation Inc. program, “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan-Farmers Market” through the assistance of the Provincial S&T Center of Rizal (PSTC-Rizal), LGU-Angono, Department of Agriculture, Municipality of Angono, Rizal and other agencies supporting the organization.
