Four laboratory staff of the DOST Cavite Water and Wastewater Testing Laboratory (CWWTL) completed the Certification Course for Drinking Water Sampler last 2 June 2022, facilitated online via the Zoom platform.

The Department of Health – National Reference Laboratory (DOH-NRL) conducted the one-day training covering lectures on standards for drinking-water quality, water sampling and evaluation results, and operational standards for water testing laboratories. DOH-NRL likewise tackled the Philippine National Standard for Drinking Water (PNSDW), consistent with the World Health Organization (WHO) frameworks for drinking-water safety. The DOST CWWTL is one of the government water testing laboratories compliant to the policy.

Mushrooms are widely known for their great taste and amazing health benefits which make it a valuable product and source of income for some organizations.

Last 2-3 June 2022, the Provincial S&T Center of Rizal conducted a two-day Skills Training on Mushroom Flour Processing for the Niogan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NARBSMPC) and Mahabang Parang Angono CLOA Holders Farmers Assn., Inc. (MPACHFAI). The event was conducted online via zoom and on-site at the Shared Service Facility (SSF) for Mushroom Production and processing in Brgy. Niogan, Pililla, Rizal.

Bagong Silang San Juan Batangas Farmers Association, Inc. (BSSJBFAI) received a training on food safety and on packaging technology and labelling requirements from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Batangas in partnership with Batangas State University’s (BatStateU) Graduate School of College of Accountancy, Business, Economics and International Hospitality Management (CABEIHM) held at Sitio Bagong Silang, Brgy. Escribano, San Juan, Batangas, May 28.

On June 8, 2022, Provincial Science & Technology Center (PSTC)-Laguna was invited by Silent Integrated Farm located at Brgy. Dagatan Liliw, Laguna, to conduct a training on the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Silent Integrated Farm is a sustainable and innovative tourism destination serving as a learning center that produces good and healthy food, value-adding crops, and cruelty-free products where everyone can enjoy the happy farming community. The activity aims to discuss the importance of cGMP implementation in the food processing business. The training was rendered by Engr. Wilma G. del Rosario, SRS II of PSTC-Laguna, together with Ms. Anna Marie M. Marasigan, PA-II: both are members of the Regional Food Safety Team.
